Clinical Engineer / Biomedical Engineer

Summary

Clinical or biomedical engineer with proven knowledge, skills and experience in the formal education and training of BMET candidates/students, supervision of staff biomedical equipment technicians, and sales and technical support personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise BMET students in a formal school/class environment with structured curriculum.
  • Supervise and monitor staff biomedical equipment technicians, sales and customer support personnel.
  • Teach and oversee formal laboratory courses, including lecture and laboratory presentations in the area of biomedical equipment technology, with emphasis on troubleshooting and repair of general biomedical equipment, imaging modalities and clinical laboratory equipment.
  • Modify and keep current course curriculum, laboratory procedures and demonstrations for a continuing education program that addresses the safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Provide technical support on product programming and implementation techniques
  • Advise staff on medical engineering technology, including existing and emerging technology
  • Provide expert advice, consultation and guidance in biomedical engineering matters and support field activities as requested by management.
  • Maintains current knowledge of competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical and biomedical developments related to medical products
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the area of clinical engineering or biomedical engineering
  • Minimum of two (3) years of hands-on operational experience working in technology delivery
  • Minimum of one (3) year experience in a supervising/managerial position.
  • Experience with complex medical devices and equipment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Medical Physics
  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics and Electrical Engineering, or PhD in Physics or Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Certification as a Clinical Engineer or Professional Engineer
  • Extensive knowledge of IT, ability to diagnose and repair hardware/software problems, including troubleshooting on computer networks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and speaking skills
  • Must have, or be capable of receiving, vaccinations recommended by CDC.
