Senior Instructor/Professor - Biomedical Engineering Technology
Summary
Develop and teach classes in basic electronics and medical technology to students from a diverse group of developing countries. The emphasis will be on biomedical repair in a broad range of imaging, EKG, defibrillation, infusion, anesthesia, electrosurgical, and sensor devices. Will share the responsibility for developing and teaching biomedical engineering aspects of the equipment. Prepare curricula, present lectures, seminars and workshops.
Responsibilities
- Teach Biomedical Engineering Technology in the area of basic electronics, biomedical instrumentation, sensors and transducers, troubleshoot and repair of imaging, clinical laboratory and/or some general biomedical equipment;
- Develop appropriate course syllabi and lesson plans. Apply teaching techniques to best achieve course and program objectives;
- Participate in curriculum development and serve on School committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities;
- Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with School and division policies in the performance of duties;
- Prepare and present lectures, laboratory presentations and tutorials relating to laboratory course material. Organize seminars and workshops, teach assigned courses, and test and maintain biomedical equipment;
- Monitor student classroom/laboratory efforts and homework, providing the most efficient use of academic learning time;
- Counsel and advise students on course content and academic issues.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology or Biomedical Engineering. Ph.D. preferred. Must possess a strong background in electrical/electronic theory, biomedical instrumentation, and troubleshooting broad range of medical instruments;
- Minimum 5 years experience teaching and training biomedical technologies;
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Biomedical Equipment Engineer/Technician preferred;
- Demonstrated excellence in, and commitment to, teaching and scholarship;
- Proficiency in publishing articles or books in related domains;
- Ability to relate to students of various skills, academic levels and diverse ethnic and gender backgrounds;
- Demonstrate a willingness to work cooperatively with others;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills;
- Strong technical aptitude and extensive knowledge of a broad range of biomedical equipment, operation and maintenance;
- Excellent computer skills.
