Biomedical Equipment Instructor
Summary
Seeking a professional with proven experience in providing competency-based instruction to international trainees in a manner that prepares program graduates for success in entry-level positions as biomedical equipment technicians performing installation, maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment in developing countries.
Responsibilities
- Teach and oversee intensive laboratory courses, including lecture and laboratory presentations in the area of basic electronics, biomedical instrumentation, sensors and transducers; troubleshoot and repair of general biomedical equipment, imaging modalities and clinical laboratory equipment;
- Develop course syllabi, laboratory procedures and demonstrations. Applies teaching techniques to best achieve course and program objectives;
- Track and monitor lab experiments, along with preparation for further developments of laboratory courses;
- Assist faculty with interpreting assay results and contribute to developing presentation and writing of publications using these results;
- Support students and faculty laboratory experiments for various projects related to training students
- Test, repair, calibrate and maintain biomedical equipment;
- Provide guidance and training to faculty and students in the lab;
- Coordinate all trainees, lab instructors and assistants for laboratory courses;
- Setup, maintain, test, repair and secure all laboratory equipment;
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Electronics, Science or Biomedical Equipment Engineering. Bachelor degree or higher preferred; military training and biomedical experience a plus.
- Five to nine years experience in the biomedical equipment field with a focus on installation, maintenance and repair;
- Three to five years experience in training or teaching imaging modalities, clinical laboratory and general biomedical equipment;
- Demonstrated excellence in, and commitment to, teaching and scholarship;
- Ability to relate to students of various skills, academic levels and diverse ethnic and gender backgrounds;
- Demonstrate a willingness to work cooperatively with others;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills;
- Strong technical aptitude and extensive knowledge of a broad range of biomedical equipment, operation and maintenance;
- Excellent computer skills.
