Development Director

Summary

The Development Director has the primary responsibility for coordinating a comprehensive and diversified national fundraising development program.  Position reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities

 
  • Creates strategies and plans to meet annual and long-term development requirements. 
  • Identifies and develops donors and sponsors.
  • Develops foundation, corporate and government grant proposals and ensures the timely submission of requests. 
  • Oversees fund-raising events.
  • Develops and implements campaigns and programs for planned giving, corporate partnerships and special events.
  • Works with Executive staff to identify and evaluate prospective donors and to determine contact strategies.   
  • Assures that donor data is accurate and up-to-date.  
  • Ensures that donors receive appropriate, timely recognition and communications.
  • Verifies that development/fundraising materials are current. 
  • Implements a targeted strategy for support from individuals and institutions.
  • Various other development responsibilities as required by CEO.

Requirements

 
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five to ten years experience in non-profit fund raising with significant experience in grant writing and research.
  • Superior writing, communication, organizational and planning skills. 
  • Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to interact with external constituents in a wide range of situations with enthusiasm and diplomacy.
  • Proactive, self motivated style.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work creatively and independently.
  • Strong PC, Microsoft Office and Internet skills.
